Kolkata Metro has embarked on a project to upgrade the gates along the Blue Line, ensuring smoother transit for commuters from Howrah Maidan to Sector 5, ahead of the Durga Puja festivities. This initiative is expected to bring significant improvements to metro services, catering to the heightened demand during the festive season.
The Kolkata Metro authorities stated, "We are committed to modernizing the old Blue Line with state-of-the-art technology, providing commuters with a more efficient and convenient travel experience." The replacement of old gates marks a step towards enhancing the overall infrastructure and service quality of the metro system in Kolkata.
Presently, the Green Line boasts a daily ridership of 3.5 times, showcasing its popularity among passengers.In contrast, the Purple Line sees around 8 thousand passengers daily, while the Orange Line records approximately 4 thousand passengers per day. The new metro line is expected to significantly improve transportation accessibility in the region.
